Palafox Market remains closed until further notice. The DIB is in weekly communications with the City, who grants the DIB its permit to hold the market in MLK plaza. MLK Plaza is a City-owned public park and use of the park for the market requires an approved City Special Event Permit. At this time the City is still restricting the approval of permits for public events the size of Palafox Market. Once DIB receives guidance on reopening the market, current vendors will be notified as early as possible and new/returning vendor applications will be processed in the order in which they are received.
Please anticipate and prepare for changes in how the market will operate, when it reopens. Here are some of the safety precautions DIB will be taking to ensure the safety of vendors and the public:
Increased space between vendors
Additional hand sanitizer stations
No vendor shall provide/offer samples of any product
All vendors will be required to wear masks and gloves (with gloves changed regularly)
All vendors will be required to limit the number of people in their tents
Security will be present to monitor large groups of people (10 or more) and assist with controlling proper social distancing
Modifications to the flow of the market are likely
Additionally, DIB asks that vendors focus on fulfilling pre-orders, scheduling pick-ups and cashless transactions.
